Special Waste Area

For the safe and secure storage of hazardous waste.

Following significant investment and a 12-month refurbishment, Taylors unveiled its special waste area in Spring 2010. This has allowed us to exceed our previous operational levels, delivering high standards in all circumstances.

This first rate facility is where much of our hazardous waste is collected and sorted. From Waste Receipt all waste is inspected to ensure compliance and is then transferred into a designated storage bay specific to its Hazard Class (Flammable, Corrosive etc) awaiting further treatment.   Any non-conforming waste is instantly transferred into our Quarantine area for further inspection and investigation – all non conformances will be reported to the respective client.

Wastes suitable for storage within our facility include:

  • Oily Contaminated Solids
  • Acids
  • Alkaline solutions
  • Industrial solvents
  • Oils
  • Coolants / Glycols
  • Oxidisers
  • Flammable liquids / Solids
  • Gases
  • Aerosol cans
  • Laboratory chemicals
  • Fluorescent tubing
  • Paints
  • WEEE
  • Clinical Wastes

Other segregated storage areas are also available for lead, alkaline and lithium batteries, and clinical/infectious waste.  Our multi-functional facility also hosts plastic and metal drum crushing, fluorescent tube and oil filter crushing, and a dedicated tank cleaning and wash bay area.

As always, the safety of our staff is a key priority. We operate specific safety areas, safety showers, first aid kits, eye wash stations, spill kits, A, B, C and D class fire extinguishers to ensure safety at all times.
