Eric Simmers retires after 30 years:

On Thursday 31st October, we bid a sad farewell and happy retirement, to well loved and well respected Eric Simmers.

To celebrate his 30 years with the business, the company invited Eric and many of his colleagues to a small dinner party at Meldrum House Country Hotel & Golf Course , where everyone enjoyed a fabulous meal and related stories and memories, some funny and some poignant.

We wish Eric a very happy and healthy retirement, knowing he will have plenty to keep him busy with his list of jobs from his wife, Lorna and beautiful grandchildren to spend precious time with.

Another valued member of staff, Ron Aitken, retired at the age of 81! Ron joined the company at the age of 58 and we were honoured to hear him say, during his farewell speech, that he wished he joined the company many years before as he felt part of a big happy family during his time with Taylors Industrial.

We cant thank both these guys for their hard work and dedication to the business and please don't be strangers.

New tanks for our Altens facility

Yesterday, we took delivery of 2 stainless steel 90 cubic metre Special Product tanks from Richard Allan Engineering.
These tanks demonstrate our continued investment within our Altens facility in Aberdeen. The tanks will ensure that we are handling waste in a safe and efficient manner.
Thanks to Global Crane Services for a professional job, while putting the tanks into position.

Kendall Taylor joins the Company

2024 has a promising start for the business, Taylors Industrial Services Ltd, with a welcome addition to the team by Kendall Taylor.
Kendall is the 4th generation of the Taylor family to be joining the business. Following in the footsteps of her brother, Bradley, she will have a very busy and varied role within the business, learning all about the business from the bottom upwards
.Initially, Kendall will be working along side Sales and Marketing Executive, Audrey Reid, to gain knowledge and experience, meeting our customers to hear what they have to say and gain an insight as to their requirements
.We are excited that Kendall is joining the team and we look forward to her input, enthusiasm and assistance in keeping the company a family success

Tank Cleaning Journey

Taylors Industrial Services provides tank cleaning for businesses, we wanted to show you how we carry out this service.

Read our step by step cleaning procedures below to show you how we get from the before picture to the after.

Here at Taylors Industrial Services, we provide a variety of services one of which is tank cleaning to an industry standard.

Taylors have a purpose-built tank wash-bay to enable our skilled team to handle all industrial cleaning tasks efficiently and thoroughly.

Each tank cleaning crew is equipped with a dedicated safety unit which contains all necessary cleaning and safety equipment.

We can also do onsite tank cleaning in; Dundee, Kirkwall, Inverness, Perth, Paisley, Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, the Outer Hebrides and the Shetlands.

We wanted to take you on a journey to explain the tank cleaning process;

Once the tank arrives on the site it is offloaded by the yard team where one of our chemists Duncan or Neil will take a sample from the tank to ascertain what exactly is in the tank to determine the best method of disposal.

Next, the cleaning team takes over; the tank is then drained and sent the determined route of disposal by the chemist whether that’s separating contents for repurposing, recycling or disposing of safely.

The tank is then checked to see if they are safe to enter for example if there are unsafe gases present – our team’s safety is paramount.

Then a cleaning team member is sent in and they use a mixture of high-pressure water, and soap (surfactants) as required to clean the tanks to industry standard.

The supervisor will then inspect the tanks to ensure that they have been cleaned to the required standard and issue a cleaning certificate.

Finally, the yard team will check a valid cleaning certificate is present and then load the lorry with the tanks.

We ensure that our team undertakes regular training to ensure that industry standards are met this training includes:

· Confined space procedures

· Atmospheric monitoring

· Breathing apparatus and airline equipment

· High pressure water jetting

· The use of PPE and RPE

· Scaffolding and LOLER operations

· Manual handling

· Safe quayside operations

We believe continual development and training is crucial to maintain standards.

Friends of ANCHOR

At Taylors Industrial we have been supporting friends of ANCHOR since 2018.

We wanted to show our appreciation and support to this organization by creating a promotional piece on our blog to aid in Friends of ANCHOR's celebrations for their 25 years of service!

Friends of ANCHOR are celebrating 25 years of their commitment to their patients. They have worked alongside the NHS since they started in 1997 to provide vital support to every northeast of Scotland cancer and haematology patient.

Friends of ANCHOR provide person-centered well-being services, free for every patient. They work hard to provide funding for medical equipment and pioneering research to push boundaries on diagnosing, treating and caring for patients.

In their current fundraising campaign, the ANCHORED Together appeal, they have raised a whopping 1.6million to date, to support The ANCHOR Centre, which will open its doors in 2023!

They currently have a £2 million fundraising pot to fill, their appeal is to continue their commitment to delivering the difference for the 250 people treated a day which is the equivalent of 65,000 people a year.

The difference this centre will make:

· A place where out and day patient's services will be under one roof!
· Putting Aberdeen on the map with its state-of-the-art tech and equipment
· Enhancing the atmosphere for patients and staff
Creating dedicated wellbeing spaces including a complimentary therapy room

Where do your donations go?

It is worth noting that every penny and pound donated to Friends of ANCHOR goes to the cause because their operating costs are fully covered by Aberdeen company Balmoral Group, as they have been since the charity was founded.

Pioneering Research

An annual commitment of up to £100,000

This funds multiple research projects including a partnership with the University of Aberdeen. Funding research improves the understanding of the cause to help develop care and discover treatment breakthroughs.

Since 2010 Friends of ANCHOR have invested £710,433 into pilot research projects.

Medical Equipment

Friends of ANCHOR provides funding for equipment that is over and above the NHS core budget, to ensure Aberdeen is a leading hospital for cancer and haematology care.

Supporting the latest diagnostic equipment, Friends of ANCHOR has invested £140,000 for Head and Neck Clinic in funding endoscopes and laryngoscopes.

Nuclear medicine investment brought a first for Scotland last year with funding totaling over £100,000, to equip the department with a radiopharmaceutical dose administration system for more effective cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Supporting the Gastroenterology department to the tune of £223,000 for advanced diagnosis and treatment of patients with upper intestinal cancers.

Person-centered wellbeing

Specialist wellbeing services and provisions totaling an average of £325,000 per year

Services that are completely free for ANCHOR patients include specialized massage therapies, mindfulness and hair loss support.

Over the past five years Friends of ANCHOR has invested £1,139,000 into the patient wellbeing services and provisions.
